Activities taken up

With the felt need of educating the students of Nagaland and creating awareness on Energy Conservation, the Nagaland State Designated Agency has also taken various initiatives through the Education Department, Government of Nagaland.

In this connection, an annual painting competition for students is conducted under the initiative of NEEPCO, Doyang. During this painting competition, the best paintings are selected and awards are given out.

1)Activities taken up during the year 2007-08

As a follow up action, the Electrical Inspectorate as the State Designated Agency took up the following initiatives during 2007-08 as awareness campaign for energy conservation.

>     The SDA distributed various posters, stickers and booklets in different vernaculars with the message of energy saving, importance of electrical energy and saving money to create awareness among the public. The articles were distributed to different divisional engineers of the Power Department and a range of institutions.

>     The NSDA on May 23, 2008 also carried out a seminar on "Energy Conservation" where various dignitaries including the Nagaland State Power Minister, students and teachers from schools, colleges and University along with the resource person from Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

In the seminar, the NSDA distributed posters, stickers and booklets such as usage of CFL in lieu of incandescent lamp, switching off power when not required, usage of star marked electrical appliances and switches incorporating measures for saving energy to the attendees.

>     A capacity building programme for officers and staff of NSDA was also taken up.

>     Investigations and survey for two demo projects to be carried out in the year 2008-09 was also figured out.

> The NSDA also prepared the five year Action Plan  

2)Activities to be taken up during the year 2008-09

a)      Investment Grade Audit of Government buildings-

Nagaland Stated Designated Agency has proposed 11 (eleven) government/semi-government buildings to undertake investment grade audit during the current financial year. The list of name of buildings and its connected load are given as below:

Already financial bid are invited from the empanelled ESCO (Energy Services Company)

ii)  A state level essay competition on "Energy Conservation" is also being organised under the NSDA for students of class IV-VIII.

iii) It also proposes for provision of technical assistance/consultancy/survey under which activities like establishment of internet platform for communication with the SDA (consultancy components) and survey of buildings at the state level that fall under the EC Act are planned to be taken up. The activities include- Design of data base/website linkage with other SDA/BEE; Status of availability of notified equipments in the state; Amendment of ECBC and preparing commercial building list as designated consumers.    

iv) Organising workshops/training programmes/manuals, publicity/awareness and other demo projects have been planned to conduct half yearly regional meetings for exchange of information pertaining lessons learned on state level implementation of the EC Act. 

v) In order to create more awareness among the general public in regard to energy conservation, preparation of promotional materials in the form of pamphlets, brochures, posters, hire of media consultants have been put forward for wider knowledge. It will also include stake holders such as certified energy managers, accredited energy auditors, and designated consumers. Preparation and publication of annual year book and publication of 5 years Action plan in book form. Awareness seminar are also planned to be organized more at schools, colleges and University.
